The first round is complete at Players Championship 4 with some more brilliant darts coming out of Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan in the early stages.
Darius Labanauskas was probably one of the players of the round. ‘Lucky D’ has been really consistent as of late since his World Championship run at the back end of 2019 and he showed that by smashing Michael Smith 6-1. This was all with a 103.7 average as he showed that he means business today.
Another player who could mean business today is Gary Anderson. ‘The Flying Scotsman’ eased past Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-2 and despite not hitting the heights, he will hope he can now break a duck he seems to have on Sunday ProTours where his best darts often do not come out.
Steve Lennon as well has continued his good form hitting a 103 average in edging past Mervyn King; while there were also wins for the likes of Jonny Clayton, Jelle Klaasen and Adrian Lewis as the action continues.
