Michael van Gerwen will not add a sixth Premier League title to his record this year. The Dutchman finished sixth in the group stage and thus misses the play-offs.

Van Gerwen was of course very disappointed speaking post match to RTL7 after his 8-2 loss against Daryl Gurney. “I was busy looking at other matches, I did this to myself. Yet this does not feel like a humiliation, losing hurts, but most of all I sold myself short, which makes me very disappointed.”

For the first time in eight participations in the Premier League Darts, the world number one does not make it to the play-offs. “Normally I am not in this position. Now I entered the final matchday with a lot of pressure and then this can happen. Still, I don’t want to dwell on this disappointment for too long, as there are other tournaments coming up soon.”

MvG IS OUT!

For the first time in his Premier League career, Michael van Gerwen will NOT participate in the Play-Offs as Daryl Gurney dominates the five-time champion to an 8-2 victory!
